Hello and welcome to the 'Wrapping It Up' website. Thank you for your interest in this sensitive subject.

The purpose of this website is to learn from other people's experiences in dealing with the 'closing' or 'wrapping up' of another person's physical possessions after their death.

With today's rapidly increasing older population, the issue of closing or wrapping up of loved one's affairs is something which most of us will have to deal with at some stage of our lives. Anyone who has undertaken this task will understand the emotions and experiences involved.

I know, because I have wrapped up a number of times!

No doubt my experiences were no different to many others in the same situation, and I still vividly remember the intense emotional dramas, the sadness, the fear and the stress.

I also remember uncovering some awful horror stories and coming across a few startling surprises, some of them funny and some of them beautiful.

Then there was the feeling of satisfied exhaustion after completing such a tricky task.

These are some of the reasons which prompted me to write 'Wrapping It Up.'

But does wrapping up really need to be so difficult, disturbing and emotionally upheaving? No it doesn't.

As a result of my past wrapping up, I have identified and documented ways to make the role less time consuming, less stressful and more efficient while still considering the sensitive nature of closing up.

But others have much to offer too - hence this questionnaire.

Some of the questions may be difficult perhaps reviving painful memories. If that is the case answer only the questions you feel comfortable with.

However if you do address the difficult questions you might gain some insight into how you could do things differently should another occasion arise.

Many psychologists and psychiatrists believe that confronting painful situations and memories can be quite therapeutic and cathartic.

What will happen to all this research?

The information you provide will be compiled into a book which will identify and address a range of issues including some sensitive yet effective, time saving and practical approaches to this difficult and daunting task.

Your answers will undoubtedly be of assistance to many others who will be faced with this duty.
